Volunteers are a vital part of our church community. God has given each of us unique gifts and abilities, and there are many different ways to serve. Click the link to right to sign up.
Because outreach and service are fundamental to our ministry, we invest much of our time and resources in the following ways:
Shalom Center Soup Kitchen
Through the Shalom Center, Lord of Life helps prepare and serves a meal for people in need at the Shalom Center Soup Kitchen on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month (even months).
ELCA Outreach Center
We partner with the other ELCA churches in Kenosha to support the work of the ELCA Outreach Center. The Center provides GED classes, an after school program to kids, a clothing closet and personal care items, Bible study, and many other outreach oriented programs. Monthly collections throughout the year help to supply the center with necessary items to help the community: diapers, personal care items, school supplies, etc.
Ladies of Lydia - Our Quilters
The Ladies of Lydia meet weekly throughout the year. Sharing their gifts, they make numerous items including quilts, chemo hats and walker bags that are given away to benefit ministries in our community and beyond.
Parish Nurse, Care Ministers and Health Ministry Team
Our parish nurse, Sue Q. leads this team in reaching out with the caring, healing touch of Jesus Christ. Care Ministers (CMTs) visit the sick and homebound, bringing encouragement, prayer and the sacrament of Holy Communion. The Health Ministry Team sponsors events like blood drives, guest speakers, KEEP Screenings, and blood pressure checks.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
These talented knitters and crocheters craft prayer shawls that are given to people who are ill or in crisis so that they feel lifted in prayer. Baptismal shawls are given to each new baby welcomed into God's family through the waters of baptism.
If you have a heart to pray for those in need, join our praying partners who receive prayer requests and then raise them to God. We believe in the power of prayer and we trust in our God who hears the prayers of His people.
