Part of living generously is being good stewards of the gifts that are entrusted to our care. This year, we are asking you to consider receiving stewardship materials digitally - including submitting your reply that way. Please use THIS LINK to tell us how you would like to receive your 2019 LIVING GENEROUSLY stewardship materials.
Watch the movie trailer below to meet the Donovan Family, whose journey into the unexpected we will follow through this stewardship series. Through them, we will see how God is at work in the lives of an ordinary family.
God made you for a purpose! Finding and fulfilling your God-given purpose is one of the greatest discoveries you'll make in life. The Connections Ministry is here to help you identify, develop and utilize the spiritual gifts you have been given.
A spiritual gift is the God-given capacity of every Christian to carry out his function in the body of Christ in a way in which no one else can. 1 Peter 4:10 says "Serve one another with whatever gifts each of you has received." God does not expect you to be who you are not, but rather to be all he made you to be!
If you have ever wondered which of the Spiritual Gifts the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon you, here is your opportunity to find out. Take the online Spiritual Gifts Discovery Assessment by clicking the picture to the right, to discover how to connect your spiritual gifts to the church, community, and world.
Because outreach and service are fundamental to our ministry, we invest much of our time and resources in the following ways:
Shalom Center Soup Kitchen
Through the Shalom Center, Lord of Life helps prepare and serves a meal for people in need at the Shalom Center on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month. People volunteer for a month at a time.
ELCA Outreach Center
We partner with the other ELCA churches in Kenosha to support the work of the ELCA Outreach Center. The Center provides GED classes, an after school program to kids, a clothing closet and personal care items, Bible study, and many other outreach oriented programs. Monthly collections throughout the year help to supply the center with necessary items to help the community: diapers, personal care items, school supplies, etc.
Ladies of Lydia - Our Quilters
The Ladies of Lydia meet on Monday evening throughout the year. Sharing their gifts, they make numerous quilts that are given away to benefit ministries in our community and beyond.
Parish Nurse, Care Ministers and Health Ministry Team
Our parish nurse, Sue Quever, leads this team in reaching out with the caring, healing touch of Jesus Christ. Care Ministers (CMTs) visit the sick and homebound, bringing encouragement, prayer and the sacrament of Holy Communion. The Health Ministry Team sponsors events like blood drives, guest speakers, KEEP Screenings, and blood pressure checks.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
These talented knitters and crocheters meet on Monday evenings. They craft prayer shawls that are given to people who are ill or in crisis so that they feel lifted in prayer. Baptismal shawls are given to each new baby welcomed into God's family through the waters of baptism.
If you have a heart to pray for those in need, join our praying partners who receive prayer requests and then raise them to God. We believe in the power of prayer and we trust in our God who hears the prayers of His people.
