Serving the WorldBecause outreach and service are fundamental to our ministry, we invest much of our time and resources in the following ways: Equipping MinistryGod made you for a purpose! Finding and fulfilling your God-given purpose is one of the greatest discoveries you'll make in life. The Equipping Ministry is here to help you identify, develop and utilize the spiritual gifts you have been given. A spiritual gift is the God-given capacity of every Christian to carry out his function in the body of Christ in a way in which no one else can. 1 Peter 4:10 says "Serve one another with whatever gifts each of you has received." God does not expect you to be who you are not, but rather to be all he made you to be! Learn more... INNS - Kenosha County Homeless ShelterLord of Life is the Sunday night INNS site from October through April each year. People in need of shelter are welcomed and offered a meal and a place to sleep for the night. Members of Lord of Life volunteer to staff the site in four-hour shifts. Shalom Center Soup KitchenThrough the Shalom Center, Lord of Life helps prepare and serves a meal for people in need at the Shalom Center on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month. Urban Outreach CenterWe partner with the other ELCA churches in Kenosha to support the work of the ELCA Urban Outreach Center. The Center provides GED classes, an after school program to kids, a clothing closet and personal care items, Bible study, and many other outreach oriented programs. Hurricane RecoveryFollowing Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Lord of Life established a relationship with Peace Lutheran Church in Slidell, Louisiana. Peace works with Lutheran Disaster Response in the efforts to clean-up, rebuild, and bring hope to the people of the Gulf Coast area. A team of volunteers traveled to Peace each year since 2006 and keep watch for the dates of our 2010 trip. Quilters - Ladies of LydiaThe Ladies of Lydia meet on Monday evening throughout the year. Sharing their gifts, they make numerous quilts that are given away to benefit ministries in our community and beyond. Mt. Meru Coffee ProjectWe sell coffee from the Mt. Meru region of Tanzania. This delicious coffee is a favorite at Lord of Life not only for its taste, but because it benefits the farmers directly in Tanzania. The farmers reap a more just portion of the profits and thereby can improve their way of life for their families and community. Doing Justice Never Tasted So Good!
