2016 Youth Mission trip

Following the theme of Psalm 139 “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made,” 20 youth and 9 chaperones from Lord of Life paired with youth from Ascension Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, CO from July 16—22nd. During this time the group cleaned and sanitized an entire preschool, beautified the front and back yards of 2 non-profit ministries operated out of homes, painted 2 play houses, reworked drainage space so a basement didn't flood, helped maintain an urban garden education garden by cleaning walkways and transplanting strawberry and raspberry bushes, helped clean and prep a Habitat for Humanity ReStore for painting, cleaned and beautified a public gathering space in a city park at the foot of Pike's Peak, changed a tire for a stranded motorist and unpacked and repackaged 3000+ lbs of food for a Feeding America food pantry distribution center, and sorted clothing donations for a store that provides clothing to foster teens. Amazing!

The group also got to take in some of the sites unique to Colorado Springs, including: Garden of the Gods, rafting on the Arkansas River, and visiting Pikes Peak by the Cog Railway.  A enormous thank you to Pastor Stacy, Pastor Cindy, the adults and the youth for great trip!  We also couldn't have done it without the support of our congregations! We can’t wait to host our new friends from Ascension here in Kenosha next summer.
